Lamar Odom speaks out about overdosing for the first time

Throughout 2016, headlines about Lamar Odom have either been about his divorce from his second ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, or his on-going battle with drug and alcohol abuse.

The former National Basketball Association star, 37, was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel in October 2015, around the time that his divorce from his former wife Khloe Kardashian was in full swing.

"I was going through my divorce, and I just really needed an outlet", she told Health. I had turned to food and had an unhealthy relationship with food my whole life, and I was like, "Food has never helped me lose weight.' " And the 'Strong Looks Better Naked" star has revealed this time around she bucked the habit and turned to fitness instead to help her "block out" the stress from her personal issues.

"I wasn't in a good place mentally, especially mentally before that incident happened", he says.

"I didn't know until Khloé told me that I was in a coma", Odom told Stork about this.

The ex-LA Laker appeared on the show "The Doctors" earlier this week and discussed how he was in a dark place during the time of his near-fatal overdose in October 2015.

Lamar, who is still recovering from his nearly fatal overdose, is trying to find some positives in what occurred.

He said: "I guess they say everything happens for a reason. I can tell the story".

The interview was conducted a few weeks back, according to Stork.

Lamar is now in rehab in order to "focus on himself" and will be discussing his journey to sobriety and recovery in more detail on "The Doctors" next month. The snippet ends with Dr. Stork asking Odom to address rumors about him using drugs and alcohol since checking out of rehab. I couldn't talk. Nothing would come out when I would open my mouth, so I was scared. He is dedicated to leading a healthy lifestyle and being the best father he can be to his children.
