LinkedIn's redesigned website is rolling out now, here's what's changing

After a short preview in September past year, and the small matter of getting acquired for $26.2 billion by Microsoft, today LinkedIn - the social network for the professional world with some 470 million users - is finally unveiling its redesign of its desktop site, complete with a simpler, app-like look; a new messaging experience that appears as a pop-up on the homepage; and updated search features.

The new design now features seven core areas, home, which is your feed, messaging, jobs, notifications, me, my network and search. Other sections of the platform, such as LinkedIn Learning, are hidden beneath the "more" icon on the navigation bar to avoid clutter. The redesign gives both the mobile app and the site a consistent design and the same back-end architecture, which should enable the company to change the site much more quickly moving forward, the company said.

One such feature is a new messaging bot that will help users automatically schedule meetings and find places to meet.

The new simplified design will roll out to all of LinkedIn's 467 million members during the coming weeks, according to the company. Typing into the box will surface results including people, jobs, companies, groups and schools. In the future, the company will also add the ability to search posts. Instead of seeing notifications separately for InMail or invitations to connect in the My Network tab, notifications have been consolidated into a single feed. LinkedIn is giving users more control over content they see, for example, adding options to unfollow or hide a post. Messages are now real-time and available across LinkedIn.

India Gets Closer To Apple Pact
A production base in India will not only help Apple with a better market, but will also create an euphoria among the Apple lovers. Apple has reportedly asked for a 15-year waiver in custom duties and labeling relaxation on its products.

The social platform is also rolling out new search features.

Here's your first look at the new LinkedIn website - and a bit about why the company thinks it'll get you to be more "confident" when you go out looking for jobs and new networking opportunities. Suggestions to "Say Happy Birthday", "Say Congrats" and "View Jobs" are now also more prominent.

The moves are aimed at boosting user engagement with LinkedIn on the desktop.

"Most importantly, this desktop redesign brings conversations and content to the heart of the platform, so you can more easily share ideas, join a discussion, and discover news and topics you care about". Another mobile app feature, curated endorsements, highlighting the most qualified and relevant recommenders, are also rolling out on desktop.
