Shadows of Valentia remake launching on 3DS in May — Fire Emblem Echoes

Nintendo's Fire Emblem Direct presentation ended up delivering a mix of the expected and the surprisingly unexpected.

Finally, 3DS owners can start looking forward to the next game in the Fire Emblem handheld series, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Velentia.

Unlike "Super Mario Run", however, "Fire Emblem: Heroes" will be free rather than a premium app; players will be invited to make in-app purchases.

The most noteworthy of the three new titles is Fire Emblem Warriors because it is considered to be a major new game in the Fire Emblem franchise.

The gameplay for Fire Emblem Heroes will be turn-based combat - your characters will use a grid-based map to attack and defend.

This Fall will see the arrival of Fire Emblem Warriors, the new title from Koei Tecmo which is a cross over of the Fire Emblem, and Warriors worlds. "And in our view, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch are going to live side-by-side". Additionally, there will be "many other modes where you can. compete against other players", and the company promises that "free and timely updates will continue to add new Hero characters, content, and other surprises". Expect Nintendo to earn a lot of money with this game. It will be available on Android devices first.

"Fire Emblem: Heroes" is also the first time that the Nintendo franchise has stepped onto mobile platforms, and in fact will be the console and game manufacturer's vanguard on Android as "Super Mario Run" is not stepping over from iOS until March.

A major Fire Emblem game is planned to be released on the Nintendo Switch. The game will include new artwork and voices for each hero.
