Shanahan will be his own offensive coordinator for 49ers

Kyle Shanahan was introduced as the new head coach of the 49ers at a press conference on Thursday and a lot of the answers were familiar to anyone who has been at introductory press conferences in the past.

To illustrate Lynch's point, an NFL 360 piece by's Michael Silver during the 2016 season proves educational. Now he'll need to be replaced.

Meanwhile, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Shanahan is also considering Chargers linebackers coach Robert Saleh for the 49ers' defensive coordinator position. 2014 was Jim Harbaugh's past year with the team before they "mutually" parted ways, followed by single seasons by Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly.

Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan coaches during minicamp at Falcons Training Facility. He'll turn 24 later this month, and should only miss about month of the regular season.

Offensively, the Falcons sat in the top-five across the league in total offense, passing yards, and rushing yards.

The film is playing at more than a dozen Boston-area theaters, 10 of which have showings that start between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. And even with the rise of cord cutting, many people still plan to watch the Super Bowl the old-fashioned way - on TV.

"For them to have control of the 53 I don't think it's a bad idea at all", Bowman said.

That happened in dramatic fashion on Sunday when the Falcons wasted a 28-3 lead in a 34-28 loss that included some questioning of Shanahan's play-calling. Kaepernick showed glimpses - a comeback win over the Rams late in the season was one - that he might have enough to stick around in San Francisco. He was ridiculous, but then this year kind of went back to what he had been his entire career and didn't make that switch. Mayhew spent nine years as an National Football League cornerback and was Detroit's general manager for eight seasons. Shanahan's immediate two predecessors, Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly, each were fired one year into their respective four-year contracts. But in the meantime, new general manager John Lynch joined KNBR radio this week and offered some insight into how the process will work.

It all begins, however, with filling the considerable void that will be created by Shanahan's departure.
