Turkey claims to have killed YPG fighter in cross-border clashes

Putin expressed condolences to Erdogan over the deaths of Turkish soldiers near Syria's al-Bab, the Kremlin said earlier. In a written statement issued on February 15, the Turkish General Staff said that at around 09:10 a.m. (06:10 a.m. GMT) on February 15, a bomb-laden vehicle along with around eight to 10 ISIL militants tried to attack a temporary base belonging to the Turkish forces positioned in the south of the northern Syrian town of al-Bab.

The YPG said they fired warning shots at Turkish forces who attempted to cross the border into Rojava, northern Syria near Elok village.

The town in Syria's Aleppo province is the last stronghold of the jihadist group in the region, and has also been targeted by Syrian government forces.

The Turkish army returned fire from the Kurdish side at a border post in the Nusaybin area on Monday, Hurriyet Daily News reported, citing a military statement published on Tuesday that claimed to have killed one Kurdish fighter.
