White House Car Bomb Threat

An unnamed man was detained by the Secret Service late Saturday night after he drove his vehicle to a White House checkpoint about a quarter mile from the White House and claimed to have a bomb inside his auto. It was not confirmed if there vehicle actually had any explosive or other risky device inside it, security at the official residence of the president has been beefed up.

Another individual was apprehended earlier on Saturday after jumping a barrier in front of the White House, resulting in a full lockdown of the complex.

President Trump was not home at the time - he's in Mar-a-Lago this weekend.

- After three security scares in just over a week, the Secret Service is stepping up its security measures.

Trump was at his residence at the time.

The source believes Tran made his way past a several Secret Service posts and jumped the White House gate, hiding behind a pillar of the East Wing entrance, CNN reported. White House press secretary Sean Spicer praised the agency's response on Twitter.

"Upon contact with the individual, U.S. Secret Service Uniform Division Officers detained the individual and declared his vehicle suspicious", a Secret Service spokesperson said.

The Secret Service has not confirmed whether a device was found, but said one person had been arrested.

The arrest came about a week after a more serious incident that called into question security outside the White House.
