Democrats Just Moved Closer to Filibustering Neil Gorsuch

Republicans have only 52 seats in the Senate. He later told the Post that Gorsuch is "not a neutral legal mind but someone with a deep-seated conservative ideology. Judge Gorsuch opinions often reflect a commitment to satisfy his judicial philosophy more than to grapple with the complex circumstances faced by ordinary Americans", he says.

No other Supreme Court nominee has been successfully filibustered since Lyndon B. Johnson's administration.

"Because the truth is, if a nominee can't get 60 votes, you shouldn't change the rules, you should change the nominee". He added, "If a judge can't 60 votes, you don't change the rules, you change the judge or the nominee".

"Michael has not decided on how he will vote on the nomination or a potential filibuster", Bennet spokeswoman Laurie Cipriano told 9NEWS.

"It would be grossly improper of a judge to do that and a violation of the separation of powers and judicial independence if someone sitting at this table, in order to get confirmed, had to make promises or commitments about how they'd rule in a case that's now pending and likely to make its way to the Supreme Court", Gorsuch said of the travel ban that was blocked by a federal judge.

Murray is a member of the Senate's Democratic leadership. Gorsuch said that he has no intentions of considering Trump's standing regarding controversial topics such as abortion and stressed: "No man is above the law".

France's Macron passes first of three big tests

Marine Le Pen Meets Russian President
Le Pen has countered by saying that "if any English or American bank would offer money I would gladly accept it". Le Pen, in 2014, admitted to taking a €9 million loan from a bank with links to the Kremlin-linked.

Noting that Schumer had announced he would attempt to block any nominee before Gorsuch was even nominated, a McConnell spokesperson pushed back. I will be voting NO on Judge Gorsuch and will oppose a cloture motion ending debate on his nomination.

The second day of Gorsuch's hearing lasted about 11 hours.

"After careful deliberation, I have concluded that I can not support Judge Neil Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court", Schumer said.

"Schumer had a message for his 'Republican friends" who may contemplate changing Senate rules so Gorsuch can be confirmed with 51 votes instead of 60. We'll see. At any rate, while MSNBC's main goal is to keep the blood pressure of the Democratic base at normal levels, the network has been saying that Gorsuch is all but a slam-dunk.

First of all, I think Justice Kennedy may well leave this summer, and I think that we're talking about perhaps two nominees this year.
