Pep Guardiola hopeful Manchester City starlet Gabriel Jesus will return this season

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admitted it was frustrating for his side not to take full advantage of Chelsea's loss on Saturday.

We have specific qualities in our players to create those chances but we were unable to score goals.

"It's a little bit like Manchester City now". We didn't want the ball.

"Like I could not imagine the generation of Lampard, Carrick, Scholes, Terry, Gerrard, (Rio) Ferdinand, they had the talent to do something more".

Any onlookers of City's games this season will know that full-back is an area which Guardiola is desperate to improve, having even resorted to play midfielder Fernandinho there of late.

"Walker, Rose, Alli, Dier, John Stones, Raheem (Sterling), they are top (players). In some moments, we didn't do that".

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has questioned why some worldwide teams are playing friendlies as well as competitive matches at this stage of the season.

Both countries expelled each other's ambassadors and barred their citizens from leaving, in a bitter stand-off over the killing. Without specifying exactly who sent the letter, Mr Khalid said: "Legally speaking, Kim Jong Un is the next of kin".

The match summed up City's maiden season under ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach Guardiola, as they started brightly, dropped off significantly and ultimately lost their way.

Monreal's hand looked to have brushed the ball while he attempted to clear in the 92nd minute at Emirates Stadium, where referee Andre Marriner ignored the penalty appeals of the visiting players.

At this level when players are blessed with as much pace as you they will punish you if you do not get into position quickly enough.

"I could not imagine the generation of [Frank] Lampard, [Michael] Carrick, [Paul] Scholes, [Steven] Gerrard, [John] Terry, [Rio] Ferdinand were not able to do something more", he said.

"If we could avoid this, that would be better, but the schedule is the schedule".

There was an interesting insight into City's mentality from their manager, who said that they were happier when reacting to adversity than when they were on top in the game.
