Apple-branded display in the works for iMac 'Pro' and Mac Pro

Apple-branded display in the works for iMac 'Pro' and Mac Pro

A 6-core Xeon with 16GB of RAM and two AMD FirePro D500s will cost $3000 and for an additional $1000, you can upgrade to an 8-core processor with dual FirePro D700s. The $3,999 six-core model, meanwhile, gets bumped up to an eight-core processor with dual D700 GPUs.

Aside from the redesigned Mac Pro, Gruber has also learned from Apple that the company is working on displays that would go with the new desktop machine.

"We have big plans for the iMac", the company's senior vice president of worldwide marketing said in during a round table discussion at Apple's Machine Shop hardware prototyping lab.

Apple has found itself in a precarious position, the company is on its heels doing damage control over slow Mac updates. Apple uses the kind of GPUs more commonly found in notebook computers, and they can't compete with the dedicated video cards most consumers want in a high-end rig. Unfortunately, the new Mac Pros and display won't ship in 2017, and no firm launch date has been announced.

According to Daring Fireball, Apple is planning a major overhaul to its Mac Pro lineup next year, with a more modular design and a product that's easier to update. Both of these technologies ideally require decent, recent hardware to edit, and lots of users felt that Apple wasn't supplying it - even that as a company they were moving away from ever supplying it again. For now, you'll have to settle for a slightly faster version of the existing model, but Apple hasn't forgotten that you also want it to innovate in this market as well. The company now needs to balance development of the new range with releasing it before customers look elsewhere. The system will also be introduced with a new first-party external display, a business that Apple said it was leaving previous year when it discontinued its Thunderbolt Display and leaned on LG to provide external screens for the new MacBook Pros.

Federer advances to Miami semi-final
Kyrgios looked rattled as Zverev oozed confidence in the final set but the latter was eventually broken in the sixth game. After several holds of serve, Federer took firm control of the set while leading 4-2 with Berdych on serve.

Woman arrested in United Kingdom attack investigation won't face charges
It was reported by the Guardian that Scotland Yard had also arrested Masood's partner, Rohey Hydara, who was later released. A 30-year-old man arrested in Birmingham on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts remains in custody.

Malaysia surrenders Kim Jong-nam's body
Both countries expelled each other's ambassadors and barred their citizens from leaving, in a bitter stand-off over the killing. Without specifying exactly who sent the letter, Mr Khalid said: "Legally speaking, Kim Jong Un is the next of kin".

This means that Apple is "completely rethinking" the Mac Pro and an all-new design for the desktop device is now in the works. But Schiller did say the new iMacs won't have any sort of touchscreen. A new Mac Pro is coming although we'll have to wait till 2018 when a new design, that is more easily upgradable, will debut.

And Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has emerged as a threat for the creative professional users who traditionally bought Macs, with its new Surface Studio all-in-one PC.

The Mac Pro, the current vintage that we introduced, we wanted to do something bold and different.

"If we've had a pause in upgrades and updates, we're sorry for that - what happened with the Mac Pro - and we're going to come out with something great to replace it", he added.
