Fox News employees file suit, say boss attacked blacks, Chinese and others

Slater also allegedly suggested black men physically abuse women and all African Americans want to harm white people, made disparaging comments about the Black Lives Matter movement and referred to the majority-black payroll subdivision as the "urban" or "Southern" department. She reportedly mocked the way that black people mispronounce certain words like "mother", "father", "month", and "ask".

Fox News has been served with a lawsuit by two black women claiming they were victims of racial discrimination while working at the network.

Fox said it takes these matters very seriously and that it took action against Slater before the lawsuit and before Wright had complained through her lawyer.

In a complaint filed in New York State Supreme Court in Bronx County, the two said they "suffered yearslong relentless racial animus at the hands of their white supervisor".

"There is no place for inappropriate verbal remarks like this at Fox News", the spokeswoman added. "We are disappointed that this needless litigation has been filed".

"We are confident that the good men and women of the Bronx will hold Fox accountable for what we believe to be its abhorrent racist conduct reminiscent of the Jim Crow era".

Fox offered no contact information for Slater, and it was not immediately clear if she had hired a lawyer.

Train derailment at Penn Station affects next day's commute
One passenger on the train, which arrived at Penn Station from Trenton, NJ, described the situation as "total chaos". Emergency officials at the scene said one person was injured in the derailment.

Wright was transferred out of the payroll department and Brown was sacked, the Times reported, but Fox News said Brown is still employed with the company.

Fox News defended its handling of the situation, noting that it had fired Slater. They also claim "top-down racial harassment" that executives including former CEO Roger Ailes and current co-presidents Bill Shine and Jack Anernathy "allowed this repugnant racial discrimination to go unchecked".

But Slater is now being accused of abusing her power and creating a hostile work environment - particularly in regard to the minorities with whom she worked.

After learning the allegations would be filed in court, the company fired Brown and demoted Wright, the lawsuit charged. According to the lawsuit, Slater once asked Wright if her three children were "fathered by the same man".

Slater who was sacked last month, also allegedly made insulting marks about Chinese and Mexican people. Fox reportedly told the Times that both women are still employed at the company.

The legal paperwork also names four other black (former) employees at Fox News, who reportedly experienced similar discriminatory treatment.
