Jackie Robinson statue unveiled at Dodger Stadium

Robinson went 0-for-3 in his debut, won 5-3 by the Dodgers. "I thought it'd be tight".

Jackie Robinson was one of the players who transcended baseball. It's very special to have the statue unveiling with all of our family.

Yet there was little question that the comments of the 70-year-old Campanis on "Nightline" reflected archaic stereotypes about the intelligence and capabilities of African-Americans. According to USA Today, the timing of the statue's debut couldn't be more imperative. "I want to get out and do more community stuff throughout the year, target the youth and let them know to not to give up on your dreams". The statue depicts Robinson sliding into home, one of the iconic moments of his Hall of Fame career, and will be placed right outside reserve level entrances, along the left-field line of Dodger Stadium. I often ask myself if I could have done what he did - played under that much pressure - and I don't think I could have.

Samsung putting Note 7 behind it as S8 pre-orders surpass S7's
In Europe you can put a Galaxy S8 pre-order till April 19 , in the United States of America pre-order sales end on April 17. With these figures, it is obvious that the company - and fans - have put behind the Galaxy Note 7 debacle from 2016.

The idea of honoring Robinson with a sculpture began two years ago and came from Mark Walter, the Dodgers chairman and controlling owner. My family watched every movie there was about Jackie Robinson. It was a time working- and middle-class men and woman of all ages, classes, races and religions commingled in the stands rooting for Jackie Robinson and his teammates, regardless of ethnic origin, game after game. "As an African-American, their actions and choices in life have an impact on my life". It is inscribed with three Robinson quotes, none of which involve baseball but instead reference things such as respect and freedom.

Rachel Robinson, Jackie's widow and wife of 26 years, is said to be making the trek for the statue's reveal.

All told, Jackie Robinson Day has become one of the most important dates on the Major League Baseball calendar.
