NFL prospect denies rape report made to police; no charges

Ohio State standout Gareon Conley, a projected first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, has been accused of rape.

In the meantime, Conley maintains his innocence and his attorneys called the allegations "ludicrous and ridiculous".

Conley, 21, has not been charged or arrested in connection to the alleged incident, according to Cleveland Police Dept. spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia. She told police that she didn't want to have sex with Conley and felt she could avoid that by agreeing to watch the other couple. After going out with friends in downtown Cleveland, the woman said, she walked back to the Westin Hotel about 2:45 a.m.

Conley has been accused of raping a woman in a Cleveland hotel and it's now an open investigation within the Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit.

The NFL Network reported Tuesday that Conley would not attend draft events in Philadelphia amid the allegations.

Rumors had been swirling about a potential first-round pick being accused of rape inside of a Cleveland hotel earlier this month, and Conley was revealed to be that player on Tuesday. Conley was not there when police arrived.

Justice Department Warns 'Sanctuary Cities,' With Grant Money At Risk
Donald Trump's Justice Department on Friday ratcheted up the pressure on Chicago and other so-called sanctuary cities. That means it will hold people for an extra 48 hours, long enough to be arrested by immigration authorities.

According to the report, the accuser says she met Conley in a hotel elevator around 3AM and brought her back to his hotel room. But even if charges are never filed against Conley, it will affect him anyway.

"There was no sexual assault", attorney Kevin Spellacy said, according to Cleveland.com.

The report states that the woman and Conley eventually walked into the bathroom before Conley allegedly unbuttoned her trousers and pulled them down.

With the National Football League draft just two days away, an unusual concern is reportedly cropping up among National Football League teams.

Police later spoke to two witnesses who were in Conley's room, and one claimed that Conley "never touched" the woman and added that she "got mad because she got kicked out of the room".

The report states the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and to be administered a rape kit. She said she told Conley to stop.
