BlackBerry KEYone goes on sale at Selfridges

The KeyOne (formerly referred to as Mercury), which made its official debut at Mobile World Congress in February, has a 4.5-inch screen and the familiar BlackBerry keyboard; it will be compatible with all major United States and Canadian carriers.

Vodafone UK has also confirmed that it will be selling the BlackBerry KEYone "soon". It will then be available unlocked in the US from May 31, priced at $549 and compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks. It will be available for preorder starting May 18 from select partners.

We have not heard a whole lot from BlackBerry lately, but if you're rooting for the Canadian smartphone maker, you'll be happy to know that it has not thrown in the towel. As you'd expect from BlackBerry, the handset has a physical keyboard, which is sure to get some heads turning.

The BlackBerry KEYone, first revealed at Mobile World Congress back in February, is certainly interesting as far as Android devices go. However, the report adds that there will be various offers from the telecom carriers in the U.S. to sweeten the deal, that includes Sprint to launch BlackBerry KEYone in the spring. Each key can be assigned to a different shortcut and a fingerprint scanner is integrated into the space bar. Hardware keyboards have been a hit for years in countries like India and Indonesia, which are mainstays of the BlackBerry and BlackBerry Messenger. Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 3.0 technology enables up to 50 percent charge in roughly 36 minutes.

Authorities say 5 dead in New York City fire
Firefighters will determine the cause of the blaze once it's been extinguished and investigated. A neighboring home also caught fire and was badly damaged, but no one was inside at the time.

Eager fans can head to the Selfridges Home and Tech department to get their hands on the device, which is on sale for £499.

The KEYone is the first BlackBerry device released under TCL Communication after a brand licencing agreement was struck between the two firms. On the back is a 12MP camera, while the front houses the 8MP shooter.

The KEYone features a standout physical keyboard with touch features embedded.

The processor's a midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, but from what I could tell it can hold its own.
