Moto focused on slimming down for the Z2 Play

It's mostly known for having a larger battery and a headphone jack, though it's also thicker and heavier than the Moto Z. And like most of the other Moto Z-branded modular devices, it has a relatively affordable price tag. At the beginning of the year the Moto G family was updated, with Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus.

Given the fact that battery life is a major concern for the smartphone users, the Moto Z2 Play likely to feature a smaller battery may not sound impressive among the buyers.

According to VentureBeat, the Moto Z2 Play will be shipping with a 3,000mAh battery, down from the original's 3,510mAh. One of the most notable aspects from the photograph that was revealed was the thickness of the equipment.

Google pays €306m Italian tax settlement over sales booked in Dublin
Google will pay 306 million euros (USD 334 million) to the Italian Revenue Agency to settle a tax dispute in Italy. Of these, "over 303 million are attributed to Google Italy and less than three million to Google Ireland".

We'll have to wait until an official announcement to make sure these specs pan out, but if accurate the Moto Z2 Play is looking like a mix of compromises and improvements over the original. However, the first leak did not clarify anything in this sense since the dimensions were not filtered. As for the display, it will also remain the same.

Motorola's upcoming Moto Z2 Play has gotten leaked in an extensive report detailing what to expect when the phone comes out at some point this year. In total the battery capacity will be 3,000 mAh, a figure that supposes a significant reduction compared to the 3,510 mAh that counted the previous model. That has the effect of reducing maximum listed usage time from 50 hours down to 30 hours. It'll probably be among the first to be launched as part of Motorola's 2017 lineup, perhaps alongside the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force. The phone will be powered by an eight-core Snapdragon 626 chip with 2.2GHz, and see a bump in both memory and storage, to 4GB of RAM and 64GB, respectively. In addition to a smaller battery, the camera may actually get a resolution downgrade, even though it may also see a higher image quality with a new 12-megapixel, f/1.7 component.
