After A Week Off, Curry, Warriors Roll Past Jazz In Game 1

The Golden State Warriors have been resting and the top-seeded team in the Western Conference plays for the first time in eight days when it opens the conference semifinals against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.

The Utah Jazz would love nothing more than a victory here to tie up the series before heading back home.

The Jazz would steady themselves from there, and eventually cut it to a one-point game on Derrick Favors' tip-in with 2:56 remaining in the first quarter.

"And then", he continued, "you've slept too long or I'm bored out of my mind and now you got to try to pump yourself up for the game".

All five of Golden State's starters racked up double figures in points against Utah. Golden State Warriors interim coach Mike Brown, right, talks to Stephen Curry during the second half in Game 1 of an NBA basketball second-round playoff series against the Utah Jazz, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Oakland, Cal. Forward Draymond Green had 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Kevin Durant finished with 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. "But we'll get back to the drawing board and we'll be better in Game 2". "You know you're in the playoffs and you're supposed to be pumped anyway, but the vibe is just like, 'Man, let's just get out of here'".

China, US reach trade agreement on beef, poultry and natural gas
The United States has pressured China for years to allow beef imports, but the process has been constantly delayed. Ross said there should be an impact on China's trade surplus with the United States by the end of the year.

Rajnath to review security in Maoist-affected states
If the officers lack leadership skills at the tactical level, it can demoralise the troops engaged in field operations. We should start a mission with a clear aim to rid Sukma of this problem", Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh said.

Palestinian West Bank local elections a test for Fatah party
The head of the Fatah list in Hebron, Tayseer Abu Sneineh, said their strategy was to pick "qualified candidates" from the tribes. CEC chairman Hanna Nasser said at a press conference in Ramallah that turnout in the cities was much lower than in the villages.

The Jazz quickly closed the gap to seven in the third quarter, but within a minute, they were staring back up at a 14-point deficit. Joe Johnson scored just 11 points on four-of-10 shooting and Gordon Hayward had his worst game of the postseason.

Playing the Jazz, who thrive on playing a grinding style, the Warriors weren't bothered most of the night, turning the ball over just seven times and getting balanced scoring. Assists-Utah 25 (Mack, Ingles, Hayward 4), Golden State 32 (West 7). The visitors also had 17 turnovers, which led to 20 points for the Dubs. "We've never been in the second round, so now that's another first", Utah coach Quin Snyder told reporters in reference to his three-season tenure.

Brown guided the Warriors as they are missing reigning NBA Coach of the Year Steve Kerr, who wasn't at the arena as he deals with complications from two back surgeries almost two years ago. "You have those moments where you're not urgent enough, they just punish you for it".

The We Believe Warriors, fresh off their massive upset of the Mavericks, had a real shot at similarly shocking the Utah Jazz. Klay Thompson is the third double-digit scorer and Draymond Green is grabbing 9.2 rebounds.

"We picked up right where we left off", said guard Stephen Curry of the team that swept Portland in the first round to earn the extended break. He is an elite rim protector and perimeter defender alike, is completely switch-proof, and is a brilliant strategist. But the couple clean ones he got, he was making those, and I would anticipate him making them. "He does a great job in controlling the tempo of the game". Hayward made only one field goal in the paint, a tough and somewhat wild finish over JaVale McGee. "Our slogan is strength in numbers, and we have guys on this team 1 through 15 that can make plays". Steph Curry sat out most of the fourth quarter, after suffering the marginally concerning ankle tweak seen above in the second half.
