Hayden in 'extremely critical' condition

WorldSBK star Nicky Hayden's condition remains unchanged and still extremely critical, according to doctors this evening.

"After a few years, we fought for the title down to the last race in Valencia and, unfortunately for me, he won and became MotoGP world champion".

"Following the incident, Nicky was treated on site by medical staff and then taken by ambulance to a hospital near Rimini for immediate treatment", Red Bull Honda said in a statement.

The 35-year-old American, who now races for the Red Bull Honda World Superbike team, was hurt while on a training exercise along the Rimini coastline when his bicycle was hit by a vehicle.

Honda quoted Cesena's Maurizio Bufalini hospital as saying the 35-year-old had "a serious polytrauma with subsequent serious cerebral damage". The Superbike World Championship says the incident occurred Wednesd.
