Trump administration sending Congress $4.1-trillion budget

Some Central Valley farm spending would fall. It's an effort to stop unauthorized immigrants from collecting the credits. Almost $3 billion would be invested in border security in fiscal year 2018 - $1.6 billion of which would be allocated to brick and mortar to build Mr. Trump's proposed southern border wall.

The White House budget is meant as a proposal and may not take effect in its current form. "President Trump's budget is a stark showcase of the president' s broken promises to America's hard-working families", House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday in a statement. Everyone agrees it's only a starting point for negotiations, albeit one with particular consequences for the state that Trump lost by 4.3 million votes last November. However, that goal depends on growth projections that many private economists view as overly optimistic. Jerry Brown, a Democrat.

The president and Republicans believe such programs encourage dependence on government and discourage people from going out and getting jobs. "It's unconscionable and un-American".

Mulvaney's plan for keeping the budget balanced over 10 years hinges on a GOP tax reform, which the White House expects to boost economic growth to over 3 percent.

Trump's budget proposal touts $3.6 trillion in spending cuts over the next decade, much of which would be accrued via cuts to welfare. If anything, the proposed cuts serve mainly as a reminder of the federal government's vast reach.

Under Trump's infrastructure initiative, new federal funding would ramp up over several years. The grants can be as small as the $5,063 provided Tuolumne County previous year to as large as the $446,997 provided Sacramento County and $552,875 provided Tulare County; for its state prisons, California received $50.6 million. Its massive denial of help to people struggling to provide for their children, people with disabilities, and millions who need health care and food would set our nation back incalculably. A similar change would be made to eligibility rules for the federal child tax credit - even when the child is a US citizen, but the parent lacks legal status. The latest string of controversies swirling around the President and his administration with the multiple Russian Federation investigations may make some in the GOP opt to steer clear of proposals that are pushed personally by Trump.

Study Finds That 'Beauty Sleep' Is Actually a Real Thing
Researchers at the Karolinska Institute asked 25 volunteers to photograph themselves, make-up free, after two full nights' sleep. However, Dr Sundelin also pointed out, "I don't want to worry people or make them lose sleep over these findings though".

The Maryland Democrat calls the proposed budget the most "draconian" of any he's seen sent to the Congress and says it would have a devastating impact on working Americans, federal employees and to national security.

Instead, the Trump tax plan promises an overhaul that would cut tax rates but rely on erasing tax breaks and economic growth to end up as "revenue neutral".

All told, non-defense discretionary spending would be slashed by $1.6 trillion over the next decade, while defense discretionary accounts would be boosted by $489 billion.

The budget contains hundreds of billions in cuts to federal-state health insurance program for low-income Americans, something the House called for in its Obamacare repeal and replacement bill that it recently passed. This would hit hard in California's San Joaquin Valley, an area with high unemployment that is predominately represented in Congress by Republicans.

"A truly groundbreaking thing for this president to do and to prove to folks that we can do things like that and we can still balance the budget if we prioritize our spending right", Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said in a briefing with reporters on Monday. For instance, USA financial support for global health programs focusing on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria would see a 24-percent cut under the proposed budget. Politically, this program and others like it enjoy bipartisan support.

"Three percent, I'm not seeing how you get there mathematically", said Rep. Mark Sanford, R-S.C. "Whether they're here illegally or not", Feinberg noted, "those families have American-citizen children". In fact, not once in the next 10 years does Trump actually propose to spend less on Medicare spending than the year before. Trump's budget summary says the program is fully paid for but includes only $19 billion over the next decade. When starting on 2018 budget proposal, Mulvaney came to the president with a one-page list of entitlement programs to reform. "We are better than this".
