BJP expanding across the country, says Amit Shah

A war of words between the ruling TRS and the BJP over Amit Shah's comments on the quantum of central funds given to Telangana intensified today with the Opposition party taking serious exception to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's remarks.

Shah described the meeting in Vijayawada as the beginning of BJP's victory march in Andhra Pradesh and exuded the confidence it would prove a milestone in the history of the state. After promising special status for the status, BJP could only afford special package for the state.

After winding up three-day visit to Telangana, Shah reached here along with Naidu from Hyderabad in the same flight. He said while the Centre had done no favour to people of Telangana, the BJP had every right to say what the state was getting in the past and what it is getting now.

Alleging that the BJP has failed to fulfil its poll promises, the MP said that it had promised to create one crore jobs but only 2.03 lakh were provided jobs in the last three years.

Stating that BJP is expanding under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said while the party was not against anybody, it had every right to expand. Seven crore youths availed of loans under Mudra Yojana for self-employment and job provision.

A press note from the BJP on 23 May quoted him saying that the Union government has given over Rs40,000 crore for highways, which include the Hyderabad-Bengaluru, Hyderabad-Vijayawada and Yadadri-Bhadrachalam highways. Union Informationand Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu speaking on the occasion criticized MIM party and asserted that the BJP can come to power in Telangana and win the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.

"This programme is not against anyone but only to expand our base in all parts of the country", he added.

Naidu also recalled how he developed Hyderabad when he was the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
