Arsene Wenger to remain Arsenal manager

Arsene Wenger to remain Arsenal manager

"Look, this season, I think usually we have no sagas".

Arsene Wenger has signed a new two-year contract with Arsenal to bring an end to the speculation surrounding his future at the Premier League club.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright fears Arsene Wenger would leave the Gunners "totally in the lurch" if he decides to quit the Premier League club this week. When they equalised, I thought; "here we are".

"Let us enjoy this win and not worry about the future", he told the BBC after the Gunners Cup final win, their seventh - to go along with three league titles - in the 21 years of Wenger's reign.

"For me, the contract does not have special meaning but, because of the debate, maybe I should have sorted that out earlier".

Despite beating Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, Arsenal's superiority over rivals Tottenham all but ended with a 2-0 defeat in the north London derby as Spurs went on to finish above their neighbours for the first time since 1995.

The 32-year-old had played only 37 minutes all season after coming off the bench in last weekend's win against Everton.

Stevie Nicol believes Arsenal's FA Cup triumph over Chelsea will be enough to keep Arsene Wenger at the club. "The only thing I advise to young coaches, if you have tendency to paranoia, don't do this job".

President Trump says meeting with Pope Francis was 'honor'
Melania abstained from wearing the traditional headscarf during her visit to the capital of Saudi Arabia, Indy 100 reported. Later in the day, Trump will meet with top Italian officials. "A Christian would never say 'you will pay for that.' Never".

Schapelle Corby arrives in Australia after last-minute flight change to avoid media
It's not clear if Corby has a personal connection to the Tyrrell family or to the case. "She seemed fine and very relaxed". Mercedes did not speak to the media when she arrived with a security guard at Rosleigh Rose's home just before 7.30am.

Soundgarden frontman Cornell's funeral will be Friday in LA
He was pronounced dead early Thursday morning after being found unresponsive in his Detroit hotel room. The singer had a prescription for Ativan and was a recovering addict throughout his entire life.

"It's down to the board members if I am the right man to lead this club further", the 67-year-old Frenchman said.

"You can not make 35 years at the top level if you believe you're not the right man to do the job". Go somewhere and make a lame joke about his "turning circle" for all I care.

Mertesacker was starting his first game of the season after spending the entire campaign on the sidelines with a knee injury.

He said more light would be shed on his situation on Wednesday or Thursday, but there seems little doubt Wenger is still held in high regard by the players.

"We're committed to mounting a sustained league challenge and that will be our focus this summer and next season".

'I think obviously when he went inside there was a moment when I sort of went to go for the ball, and then I thought he might just be a little bit ahead of me so I made a decision to pull out and not go for it.

"I expect myself to perform at that level every single week", Mertesacker said. "We have shown with that performance, it's a statement".
