Joy shines through pain at benefit concert

Less than 24 hours after a deadly terror attack in the heart of London a benefit concert by Ariana Grande and other pop stars went on as planned Sunday night in Manchester, the United Kingdom city still recovering from a suicide bombing at Grande's show there two weeks ago.

She paid tribute to the victims with an all-star affair in the city with the help of Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Liam Gallagher and others.

"And this is so handsome, you guys made that decision, you looked fear right in the face and you said "no we are Manchester and the world is watching".

Stars including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Take That and Niall Horan took to the stage at the Old Trafford stadium to the delight of 50,000 fans who had crammed into the venue.

After he left the stage Miley performed her song Inspired, after telling the crowd: "Manchester I just had to take a second to look around at all of you".

"I don't feel or smell or hear or see any fear in this building".

Before launching into her hit Side To Side, Grande told the crowd: 'I want to thank you so much for coming tonight and being so happy and strong and unified. The singers encouraged fans to raise a finger and create heart shapes with their hands to symbolise "One Love" to show the unity and strength of everyone there. "We were there in Manchester (arena) as well, I was hit".

All net proceeds from the concert went to the Manchester Emergency Fund, supporting victims affected by the bombing at Ariana's concert at Manchester Arena on 23 May 2017. She sang My Everything with students from Parr's Wood High school in Manchester, comforting 12-year-old soloist Natasha Seth when she was overcome with emotion.

'I love you guys so much.

Grande made appearances throughout the show.

The concert also will be broadcast on more than 130 iHeartRadio stations, and MTV will livestream the event on the website

The concert also came one day after an attack at London Bridge killed seven and injured 48.

Grande surprised young fans injured in last month's attack with a visit to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on Friday.

If the three-hour "One Love Manchester" concert demonstrated anything, it's how deeply the internet generation believes in the broadest concept of love.
