Lakers take Lonzo Ball with second pick in NBA Draft

The Lakers selected Ball with the second overall pick in the National Basketball Association draft Thursday night, staking a big portion of their future on the talented UCLA playmaker. If we've learned nothing else about LaVar Ball over the last several months, it's that he doesn't seem to worry about what's diplomatic and realistic.

One notable reason why the Lakers' pick did not come as a shock is because the team reportedly agreed to trade away D'Angelo Russell, who plays the same position as Ball, to the Brooklyn Nets a couple days ahead of Thursday's draft. They're carefully considering all of the different possibilities to help the Los Angeles Lakers.

But as great as Ball was on the court, it's his father LaVar who has garnered most of the attention for his eye-opening comments, comparing his son to the likes of Steph Curry and Jason Kidd.
