Outcast Chelsea star Diego Costa set to rejoin Atletico Madrid

Costa, who has two years left on his present Chelsea, is expected to depart Stamford Bridge this summer as he is not in Blues manager Antonio Conte's plans for next season.

This may come as a bit of a surprise, given today's news that Manchester United took a step closer to signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton - a player who has been linked with Chelsea for quite a while now.

Costa is in limbo, with his preferred move back to Atletico Madrid impossible before January because of the Spanish side's transfer ban.

Procopio said the cause of the crash is under investigation. "He is known to be a very nice gentleman, it appears", McGinn said. In a news release, the state police said the cab driver was a 56-year-old Cambridge man.

Out-of-favour Chelsea striker Diego Costa is expected to turn up to training on Monday next week ahead of the Blues' beginning of pre-season, with a deal with Atletico Madrid yet to be agreed upon. The Italian notified Costa by text that he is no longer wanted at Chelsea, and the 28-year-old has reportedly already started saying his goodbyes to Chelsea teammates. He won't be able to play for Atletico until January and rumours of a loan to a club in the Chinese Super League are making the rounds.

Alvaro Morata is Conte's next preferred choice to replace Costa if Lukaku can not be prevented from joining United, and there is mutual respect between the two men that stretches back to the summer of 2014, when Conte pushed for Juventus to sign him from Real Madrid.

According to The Sun, all parties could be about to perform a U-turn on the situation, as it's claimed that Costa will sit down for showdown talks with the Chelsea boss and he could yet remain with the club.
