Twins newcomer Bartolo Colon contemplating retirement

The Minnesota Twins selected the contract of starting pitcher Bartolo Colon ahead of a game against the New York Yankees, announcing that the 44-year-old will start Tuesday.

He failed to make it thru five innings for the first time since May 25 or post a quality start (6 or more innings with 3 or fewer earned runs) for the first time since April 16.

Despite posting an 8.14 ERA in 13 games for Atlanta this season before being cut, Bartolo Colon got himself a second chance with the Minnesota Twins. He signed a minor-league deal with the Twins a day later, making it 10 teams in 20 years for which Colon has played.

The Twins will give him a chance to do better, too.

Once the heart of the order came up a second time, though, balls were being hit a lot harder.

"I feel happy", Colon said through an interpreter after the game. "His ability to command the baseball was really impressive to me".

Colon took the loss during his first start with the Twins on Wednesday, giving up four runs on eight hits over the course of four innings against the Yankees.
