Scores wounded at Temple Mount in altercation with police

Tensions rose after gun violence in the area on July 14 saw two Israeli police guards and three Palestinians killed.

"Everyone stood as one man", Mr. Abbas said on Thursday, praising the determination of the Palestinians who had stayed outside the mosque compound until Israel had restored the area around the mosque to its previous state.

Al-Aqsa Waqf, or pious foundation, a religious trust that manages Islamic buildings at the compound, was hesitant and director Omar Kiswani announced it would not be in a hurry to enter Al-Aqsa.

The location of Al-Aqsa mosque is a recurring hot-spot for clashes between Israeli security and Palestinian protestors.

Since the metal detectors were removed early Tuesday, Jerusalem's Islamic authorities have been urging people not to enter until they assessed the changes made to the security set-up around the mosque - a request they repeated on Thursday's early hours despite the victorious atmosphere.

Michael Lynk, the United Nations special rapporteur on situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory, has accused Israel of human rights violations amid the ongoing crisis around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and called on Tel Aviv to end the "occupation" of East Jerusalem and other Palestinian lands.

There have been near-daily clashes between Israeli security forces and protesters since the metal detectors were introduced in the wake of the killings of a policemen on July 14 near the site known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif. Those who are able must visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque of Jerusalem as recommended by the Prophet.

Israel removed the metal detectors this week, but Palestinians still protested.

Fox News Semi-Corrects the Lie It Fed to Trump
Fox, in a statement, said neither its initial report nor subsequent coverage on the air was inaccurate. If Thomas was wrong, the paper should take its case to him, not to Fox News.

The Cleveland Cavaliers should pass on signing Derrick Rose
A Kyrie-Rose backcourt is also intriguing for super small ball lineups, which I guess can work against certain matchups. LeBron has constantly clamored for his team to acquire more scoring threats, and Rose is certainly that.

Jobless claims show USA still creating jobs
The state's rate continues to be above the national rate of 4.4%, which increased one-tenth of a percentage point. The unemployment rate for the Colorado Springs area and other cities across the state will be released August 3.

"The technical report showed that all obstacles the occupation [Israel] put outside Al Aqsa Mosque were removed", the head of the Waqf, Abdel-Azeem Salhab, said.

On the light of the Israeli police decision, the religious leaders in the city chose to perform the afternoon prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque and totally end their sit-in that has been going on for 13 days.

Violence erupted last Friday over Israel's closure of the holy site and installation of metal detectors.

Muslim leaders have now instructed followers to go back to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and many residents handed candies out in the streets in celebration.

Before the announcement, factions had been calling for a Day of Rage on Friday, which would likely have further fuelled the conflict.

According to the police, some of the stones thrown at the police fell down onto the Western Wall plaza below the Temple Mount, while worshipers also brought Palestinian flags to the holy place, in contravention of regulations banning all flags from the site. But Palestinians complain of creeping Judaisation of the holy site and attempts to take over Al Aqsa completely.

One recent trend that greatly concerns me is Israel's ongoing construction of the Wall through east Jerusalem in a manner where it is placing a number of Palestinian communities in Jerusalem outside of the Wall.
